Börner made the recording studio walls shake! Drums and guitars were recorded together live, also background vocals. After that keyboards, bass and guitar solos were added as overdubs. The drum sound is super defined, tight and punchy - love it! And the vocals: dry as the dessert, just as expected. Time for that huge reverb ;-) And for a good mix. Listen for yourself here
Looping Lynda (Lynda Anne Cortis) has her solo cello show recorded at STUDIO HÖLL. She studied violoncello at the University of the Arts Bremen and regularly plays with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra under Jeffrey Tate and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. Using the loop-station at her feet, she builds an accompanying orchestra layer by layer, sound on sound - on an exceptionally high performance level. In this production, the looped segments themselves were not recorded directly from the loop-station, but from the much better sounding microphone recording.  All the loops were re-constructed afterwards in the DAW. We believe the hassle was worth it! Click here for some music.

Kalulu Solar booked the music studio for a band-at-once recording session. It worked a treat! Communication between the rooms was so easy, it made the windows and doors disappear… Music from their trip deep into the cosmos will follow soon.
Enter classical music! Mezzo-soprano Anne sings compositions by Schumann, César Franck, Mozart, Giuseppe Giordani and others. Her clear and full voice really touched us here in the control room.

Launing is yet another big discovery of 2016. They are a four-piece Rock- Pop-Rap-Funk-Band from Hamburg (vocals, guitar, bass, drums). Their demo-tape already exhibited a lot of the band’s qualities: very original songwriting, musicality and some great playing. Now they are in a recording studio, and rightfully so! Launing have chosen to record their songs “at- once”, live with (almost) no overdubs. Mixing took the songs up where they belong. Don’t take our word for it, listen for yourself!
Torben Tietz (g, voc), in demand singer-songwriter from Hamburg, recorded some original material here at STUDIO HÖLL. It was well worth capturing every nuance of his rich voice - check out the audio examples.
Vocal recording with the Afghan pop singer Beazhan Sultani (DNK) for his next video clip production. In the beginning of 2016 he received the Best-New-Male-Artist-Award at the 10th Annual ATN Music Awards in Istanbul - and has now teamed up with one of the hottest producers for the music of the Middle East and South-Western Asia: Qais Ulfat  from Toronto (who, by the way, was awarded for his own singing the evening before at the  DAF Bama Music Awards 2016 in the Barclaycard-Arena in Hamburg).
The Patrick Farrant Trio are three great jazz musicians from Hamburg and Lübeck: Patrick Farrant (g) with his colorful and flowing style of improvisation, Phil Steen (b) showcasing an incredible amount of light-fingeredness, and Nathan Ott (dr), with many musical surprises up his sleeve, that always magically fit the song. At STUDIO HÖLL the trio made a recording session with standards and own compositions. They were recorded live, with a minimal mic setup for improved clarity. Listen to some fine music on the reference page

Souldacity breathe new life into Soul music. A touch of Jazz and a modern feel make their original compositions something quite unique. Their songs are artfully simple with lots of space, yet are full of sneaky content. The line-up: Darrin Lamont Byrd (voc), principal performer in musicals from Hamburg to Broadway, Boris Netsvetaev (kb), Kai Bussenius (dr) and Phil Steen (b). More vocal overdubs are planned for May, right now this super-groovy music is being mixed here at STUDIO HÖLL.
someonesad are into something with their new EP “Start Making Sense”. They are a great example of a well rehearsed and organized band that manages to record three complex songs in just two and a half days, and to make the mix engineer’s task considerably easier by the quality of their playing. Drums, bass, several keyboard-layers, rhythm and lead guitars, and background and main vocals were recorded as overdubs. Mastering was also a pleasure. Get a taste of it here! Now also on YouTube: someonesad - voice (official video, Aug 2017)

Freya Obijon contributed the wonderful oboe melody to Mercedes’ Winterland. She adds so much life to every tone that her oboe on its own tells a complete story! It is certainly not surprising that Freya was reworded first prize at the 2015 Bundeswettbewerb "Jugend musiziert". She is presently studying oboe at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg HfMT.
Darrin Lamont Byrd sings vocal overdubs for the Souldacity project.
Souldacity are releasing their new studio album, recorded, mixed and mastered here at STUDIO HÖLL: These Are The Days. On November 30th 2018 the album release concert will take place at Birdland, Hamburg.
